Ebook Writing and Selling - Five Secrets You Must Know Now

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Writing and selling ebooks online can be very profitable, when you approach it in the right way. Here are my best secrets, developed over the past six years - use them for guaranteed success.

1. If You Don’t Write It, You Can’t Sell It

Get it done! Your ebook doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be written.

The writing process works in mysterious ways; it’s a process of discovery. So start writing, and you’ll discover what you want to write. Writer’s block happens when you try to think in your head, rather than on the page.

2. Not Every Ebook Is a Winner - Make Lemonade from Your Lemons

You won’t know whether an ebook will sell until you sell it. You may have done great research which tells you that an ebook will be a sure-fire bestseller, but guess what? You may be wrong.

If an ebook doesn’t sell, no problem.

You can: turn it into an online course, create a Web site from it, or incorporate the information into a new ebook.

Nothing you write is ever wasted, so if your ebook doesn’t work, that’s fine. There are plenty of other uses for the information.

3. Promotion Is Vital - Be Proud and Loud

Hate marketing your ebook? Some writers are shy, and that’s fine. However, you must promote your ebook. Your shyness is natural, and it will evaporate once you get into the swing of promotion.

4. Think Series, Not Single Title

Most bestselling ebooks are short, somewhere between 50 and 100 pages. This means that you can’t cram everything into a single ebook.

Rather than thinking “ebook” think “series.” Almost any topic will lend itself to the series approach. When you write a series, you’ll find that many of your buyers will buy every book in the series, which means more sales and money for you.

5. Mine Your Life for Ebooks

Not sure what to write? Mine your own life for your ebooks. What challenges have you overcome? What information could you share on getting and staying married, overcoming asthma or arthritis, or eliminating debt?

Life is a great teacher. Use your challenges, mistakes and disasters in your ebooks. The solutions you’ve found will lead others to their own solutions. Share what you know in your ebooks, and you’ll never run out of material.

The Craigslist secret to selling your writing services

Want the fastest, easiest and simplest way to sell your writing services? Craigslist is the free online classifieds site which can help you to get clients and keep clients. Craigslist know-how is essential for writers. Discover how you can use Craigslist today.

Craigslist is the new writer’s best friend

Getting started making a good income as a new writer can be tough. I’ve been recommending Craigslist to my students for years. Few writers use Craigslist as effectively as they could.

I’ve just launched a new package to help you get started with Craigslist. Here’s what one writer said:

I’ve been using Craigslist, but to be honest, I thought it was a waste of time. Your template makes a BIG difference. I got a call from the Marketing Director of a local business as a direct result of the template (he said I impressed him because I obviously knew what I was doing). This contact resulted in a $25,000 new contract, helping them with the launch and marketing of a new product.

Advertising income from sites

When should you use third party advertising on your Web sites and blogs?

I’ve had a few questions about advertising this week, so let’s look at it.

Advertising is a great way to make money from the blogs and Web sites you create, so do use advertising - it will support your hosting fees if nothing else. If you approach it right way of course, it can provide a lot more money. Indeed, many for many writers, site advertising is their most important income stream.

So when you do use advertising on a site, and when don’t you?

Here’s my rule of thumb - I use advertising on all my sites and blogs, unless it’s a branding issue.

Therefore, I don’t use advertising on my primary Angela Booth site, nor do I use advertising on Hot Web Copy because of the brand thing.

Third party advertising leads people away from your site

Remember that when you use third party advertising, it’s distracting. It makes it easy for people to click away. Of course when you’re being paid for advertising, this is what you want, so that advertisers get their money’s worth.

But if you’re informing people about a product or service, you want to maintain their attention.

Ultimately, it’s up to you how use advertising on your sites: think about what you want people to do as a result of the advertising, and the decision will be easy.

Discover Private Label Rights (PLR) , a sizzling HOT new way to make money as a writer

The basic idea of PLR content is that it’s content which is sold to people to edit, mash up, or use directly on their Web sites. PLR content may be articles, ebooks, reports, or even audio. It’s CONTENT - stuff for Web sites - in its generic form.

If you can write ten PLR articles in a week, you can make $4000 a week

Sounds weird, but it’s true. Many writers are already cashing in on PLR, and you can too.

“Instant PLR Author: Make Money Writing Private Label Rights Products” shows you how.
