Our ebook mastery workshop is well underway. It’s wonderful to write with such keen, enthusiastic writers. More to the point, these writers understand that ebook publication is a long-term strategy.
As Shoemoney points out, Passive Income With Kindle Publishing – ShoeMoney Internet Marketing Blog:
“Kindle publishing is not something to do unless you are willing to put in the work to make it viable long term. This means (to some of you) it’s going to be boring, you won’t see a lot of money for a while, and it will feel like you aren’t making progress. This is something you build over time that has the potential to last ‘forever’ with almost no upkeep or maintenance.”
That’s the key — long-term, passive income. IF you do the writing. 🙂
Basically, it comes down to what’s on your To Do list. I talked about (or rather, whined a little about) task management apps here.
Your success with developing your own Kindle empire depends on your To Do list. At any one time, I’ll be writing at least four ebooks, some for clients, some for myself. I ghostwrite ebooks for clients because it’s profitable, because I have processes in place to make it stress-free, and because I love it.
If you’re not yet a full-time writer, your To Do list is just as important as it is for full-time writers — maybe even more important.
I know writing is challenging if you have a family, and a full-time job. You need to spend time with family and friends. Family, no matter how supportive, can become annoyed at you for spending too much time writing.
You’ll manage this in your own way, perhaps by staying up later, or getting up earlier to get your writing done. One of my students, who’s now doing very well indeed with her writing, took drastic action. When her husband called her writing “your $2 business” he quickly became her former husband. Of course their marriage had problems which had nothing to do with writing. Her writing however, became a symbol of what wasn’t working.
No one’s suggesting you get divorced if your family tells you you’re spending too much time writing. Years (decades) ago, when I had a young family and was writing romance novels, I got up at 4 AM every day. That gave me three hours of uninterrupted writing time.
You’ll discover ways to get your writing done. You’re investing your time and energy now, for passive income for many years to come. Keep writing. 🙂
