From the Freelance Industry 2012 report
Q: How much do freelance writers make?
A: As much as they want to make…
Did you know that over the next several years from 30% to 50% of all workers will be working as freelancers?
This is amazing. The world is changing. We need to change with it. Anyone who’s starting a freelance writing career today is building their future. There was a time when “going freelance” was looked on as risky… Now it’s people working for others who are facing uncertainty and are dealing with risk.
You can download the freelancers’ report for 2012 here, it’s an eye-opener. Not only can you discover what freelancers are earning, you can also discover how they get clients, what marketing plans they have for the next year, and much more.
As business moves towards hiring more and more freelancers, rather than direct employees, business will become more accustomed to outsourcing more of their activities.
As freelancers, it means that we need to enhance our skills, as well as our business practices. It’s never been more important to educate yourself as a freelancer. When you read the report, you’ll find that most freelancers are earning more than they earned at their previous day jobs.
However, as exciting as the news is, you know that as a freelancer, you’re trading hours for dollars. This is not ideal.
Eliminate Feast and Famine Syndrome
In my work with freelance writers, I know that many experience a feast and famine cycle. They either have too much work, or too little. The easiest way to smooth out this feast and famine cycle, is to create your own information products and sell them.
Creating your own products means that you’re not competing with anyone else. You create products which will sell for years to come. This is a perfect use of your time.
With the release of all the new Kindle devices, more people are becoming familiar with e-books. This means that the e-book market is growing.
If you haven’t yet started to create and sell e-books, now is the time to do it.
Take advantage of special offering on Info Product Maestro. This offering is available for the next few days, and includes 10 videos which show you how to create an Amazon bestseller — you’ll learn how from someone who did it.
And remember, there’s NO ceiling on your income as a freelance writer. You can make as much money as you want to make.
