Here’s what I’ve learned over a lifetime: attitude is everything in life. If you feel you CAN do something, you’re 95 per cent of the way there. This is especially true when you’re writing a book.
Does the thought of writing a book inspire you? Can you imagine yourself at your computer, day after day, writing?
Some writers think that they want to “write a book”, when what they really want is to have written a book.
Here’s something else I know: the journey is more important than the destination. I learned that when I my first novel was published. All these years later, while I recall the thrill of seeing my book in a bookstore, the memories of writing that book warm my heart.
What’s your attitude?
Your attitude comes from within. If you doubt yourself, you may not be ready. There’s no shame in that. You may be ready tomorrow, or next year, or a decade from now.
Your attitude comes from your desire. At least a couple of times a week, I get lengthy messages from writers asking me whether they can do something or other… These messages frustrate me. I can’t read a writer’s mind, after all.
It’s fine to have doubts about whether you can write a book. Everyone has doubts. They’re just mind chatter. You can ignore your doubts if you really want to write, and if that desire prompts the attitude that you can, you CAN.
The right attitude is all that stands between you and writing your book. If you feel you can, hang onto that feeling. It’s all you need. You’ll skip over all the obstacles in your way.
Turn Your Words Into Gold: Write and Sell An Ebook In Just Eight Hours
Here’s what I love about writing ebooks: you write them once, and they keep on selling forever.
I know several writers who’ve taken to the Kindle platform like the proverbial ducks to water. One writer friend turns out a new Kindle ebook every month, like clockwork. The last time we spoke, she had 11 ebooks selling — and her income is rising month by month.
Another writer friend mixes writing her own ebooks, with writing ebooks for others. Currently she’s been commissioned to write a biography, and a family history, for the same client. She’s finding it huge fun, and she’s making more money than she’s ever made.
The benefit of writing and selling ebooks is that once written, they can keep on selling forever. Would you trade eight hours for an income stream?
