Beginning Writers: When You’re Starting Out You Need PRACTICE

If you’re a beginning writer, the more you write, the more you earn.

What you need is PRACTICE, and lots of it. I’m fond of saying that anyone can write for money… as long as you practice.

You know I’m not a huge fan of content mills. I think they’re a curse.

BUT they’re great for new writers. When I started out new writers expected to spend years making their first sale. Five years was standard. You had to put in a lot of effort before anyone paid you a cent.

These days, anyone can write and get paid, via the content mills.

“While a rather unsavory term, content mills are another easy way to break into Web writing. There are many of these writers Web sites which collect articles to be used on other Web sites. Writers approved to write for the particular mill simply claim the title, write the article to meet the specifications and turn it in. These sites are great for those writers who have weaker marketing skills. The pay may be a little bit higher than those found on the job bidding sites but still on the low side. It pays to compare the content mills, however, they are similar but each one has its own little quirks.”

The big benefit of content mills is that they pay you to practice.

Just don’t stay in these sweatshops too long. They’ll rot your brain. :-) As soon as you can, find out how real writing works.
