Want to make money online? If you can write simple articles, you can. Articles are in high demand, and as your writing skills grow, you can develop a great home business.
You’ll find companies and individuals who want to hire you to write articles on the outsourcing sites. There are many of these sites online, and winning projects is quite simple, if you follow the rules.
Unfortunately, many people who bid on these sites don’t follow the rules, as I discovered this week. One of my clients commissioned me to find writers for a large site he’s developing, so I headed to the outsourcing sites and posted a couple of projects.
I outlined what I wanted clearly, and how I wanted writing samples delivered. Nine out of ten respondents obviously didn’t read more than a sentence or two of the projects’ descriptions because they didn’t follow a few simple rules I set out.
How to Win Projects at the Outsourcing Sites
1. DO Follow the Rules – Do What the Project Poster Asked You to Do
This is vital. If you can’t do what the project poster wants you to do as described in the project description, you won’t get hired.
For example, in the projects I posted, I said I wanted writing samples in plain text format, rather than MS Word. Nine out of ten writers attached samples in… yes, MS Word.
The bidders either didn’t read the projects, or didn’t know how to send files as plain text.
2. DO Watch Your Spelling – Use a Spell Checker
I make typos – everyone makes the occasional typo, and this is perfectly fine. However, when you’re applying for a writing job, making obvious spelling errors in every sentence, and not using any punctuation at all, is silly. It’s the equivalent of expecting to be hired as a driver and not knowing how to drive.
Correct spelling and punctuation is a minimum requirement for a writer – it’s not optional, ever.
3. DO Ask Questions if You Need to Know More
Several writers asked questions, and they immediately went onto my short list of writers for the projects because not only did they attach their samples as text files, and used correct spelling, they had also obviously read the entire project description and wanted to know more.
As you can see from the above points, you can win projects on the outsourcing sites, and stand out from the crowd, very simply. Just follow the rules the project poster has set, and you’ll win.
