Independent freelancing: going your own way as a freelance writer

If you want a great income as a freelance writer, you need to spend time generating passive income – that is, income which doesn’t depend on the hours that you put into writing.

When your income depends only on your hours spent writing, you’ll always be subject to the “feast and famine” syndrome. That is, at times you’ll be flooded with work, and will need to turn work away, and at other times, you’ll be frantically looking for writing gigs.

Here are some ways to become an independent writer, by generating passive income streams:

* Write your own ebooks and reports and sell them;

* Create Web sites as a Web publisher, and sell affiliate products and advertising on your sites; and

* Create an editorial agency, where you hire other writers as sub-contractors.
