Freelance writing is a business, and as with any business, you need to promote yourself.

Build a Web site or blog, and build trust

I always recommend creating a Web site and/ or blog to a writer, because an editor you haven’t worked with before will type your name into Google to learn more about you.

It’s sad but true that many writers accept commissions, and don’t deliver. She’s hoping that you’re professional, and that when she gives you a contract, you’ll fulfill it.

Your Web site shows an editor that you take your writing seriously and increases the likelihood that the editor will trust you with a commission.
