We’ve been talking about affiliate marketing this week, as something you can do as a sideline to your writing. However, it can be more than a sideline.
Affiliate marketing can be integrated into your other activities.
For example, let’s say you’re selling ebooks. I find that most of my students develop tunnel vision. In a sense, that’s a good thing: you have focus. However, it can also be a problem, because you don’t see opportunities to integrate monetization opportunities into your business.
Brian, one of my students, is a master at integration. He decided to integrate affiliate marketing into his ebook marketing and selling. Most months, Brian makes at least three times his ebook income from sales of affiliate products. And it’s painless.
After all, he’s promoting his ebooks. When people arrive at his website (he has several, one for each niche), they can learn more about his ebooks for that particular niche. They also learn about other products. They’ll click on an affiliate link, and if they buy, Brian earns a commission.
Brian looks at it this way. His site’s visitors are interested in a niche. They want information and help. Sometimes they get that from an ebook. At other times, they get what they need from a product he’s promoting. They’re happy, and since he’s making a great income, so’s Brian.
It’s a challenge to get traffic to a site. Once you’re getting traffic, make the most of it. Affiliate marketing gives you one way to make more money from your ebooks.
You can add affiliate promotions to any website
Of course, you can add affiliate promotions to almost any website. If you’ve got a site on which you’re promoting your writing services, why not add a page and promote an affiliate product on the page?
Let’s say you’re specializing in health writing. There are endless affiliate products you can promote. As you promote your products, you’re displaying your writing skills. Any money you make is pure gravy.
Think “integration” — and of course, keep thinking how you can put 5 minutes of your time to good use.
