Want to ensure your income as a freelance writer?
You can. There are many ways in which you can do this:
* Create multiple incomes streams by creating and selling your own products;
* Get six to ten clients on a monthly retainer;
* Market your services, and become known, so that clients come to you.
One one of the easiest ways to ensure your income is to become established and competent on the outsourcing sites.
Here’s what I said in Instant Income For Writers: Ace the Outsourcing Sites:
The outsourcing sites can provide security for you
The global economy’s been rocky for years. The outsourcing sites have been a lifeline for many writers: those who can see these sites for what they are, which is an unlimited market for writing and many other skills.
A select few writers use the outsourcing sites very well, and they make excellent incomes. These writers know what they’re doing. They treat the sites as the opportunities which they are. They know that they have to shift a lot of dirt to gather a few diamonds, but those diamonds are worth more than money.
I chat with freelance writers every day. Here’s the advice I give most often: stop thinking, and keep writing.
Most freelancers spend way too much time thinking. They rein themselves in. I love this quote from the Gladiator movie. Maximus says: “At my signal, unleash hell!”
Unleash Hell — stop holding yourself back
Only you know the ways in which you’re holding yourself back.
Drop the reins. Get proactive. DO stuff — even stuff you’re sure won’t work.
Here’s the thing: you’ll only be as successful as you allow yourself to be.
