With the launch of Writing Jobs Confidential: Everything You Need To Get Hired, And Make Money Today this week, I’ve had lots of questions about email queries.
Yes, of course you can use email to query buyers of your writing services. However, the ongoing nastiness of spam means that you need to be totally professional.
Vital: be real! Aim to differentiate yourself from spam as much as you can. Essentially, this means that you must customize each email message to its recipient. (No sending out bulk email messages to every magazine editor on the planet; each editor gets a custom email.)
I gave you tips in this post, Get Freelance Writing Jobs via Email | Angela Booth’s Fab Freelance Writing Blog:
“* Your email message’s subject line needs to be clear.
For example, if you’re writing a query, put that right into the subject line. Head it “Query”. Viz: “Query: Article Proposal on Green Energy”.
Another example: if you’re asking a question, get that into the subject line. Viz: “Question re Guidelines and Deadline”.
* Include FULL contact details.
By “full”, I mean add your phone number, so an editor can pick up the phone and call you. Adding a phone number is vital if you’re dealing with clients too.
I include my phone numbers in my email signature file; it’s a courtesy.”
DO include a short bio, and do follow up, as I show you in the writing jobs program.
Email can be powerfully effective, as long as you’re professional.
Booked Solid: Get The Writing Jobs You Want
Writing jobs are everywhere. If you want to make $5 for writing 500 words, you can get these jobs all day long. No searching necessary. These gigs are plentiful because the Web’s built on words. If you can string a few words together, you can make money.
I’ve got nothing against these jobs. Sadly however, there are two major challenges with these kinds of gigs: you’ll burn out, and they’re a dead end…
You can write less than you’re writing now, and get paid much more. Get the dream writing jobs you want, at top rates.
