Over the past couple of years, article marketing has become mainstream. Huge companies flood the Web with material daily. This material scoops dollars from Web surfers when they click on ads alongside content. While these companies advertise for “writers”, the pay is minimal, because the quality is low — it’s just filler.
You can do better. However, that said, I’m a big believer in getting experience. If you’re a beginning writer, you can learn the basics of the trade by writing for these content factories. Just don’t stay on the bottom of the ladder too long.
Learning how to write effectively is vital. As your expertise develops, and when you can show that your content gets results, it’s time to develop your own clientele, and to write to make money for yourself, too.
Let’s look at these two processes, creating content for others, and then, for yourself.
Creating Content for Others: Your Keyboard Is for Hire
If you’re looking for a small second income, you can make money at the content factories, and by working for content buyers who are following the same business model.
Look on this as a learning experience. You’re being paid to sit down and write on demand. Over time, you’ll get better.
Because these jobs are so undemanding however, you won’t learn much until you start working with your own clients.
Creating Content for Yourself: Making Money from Articles Longterm
Sooner or later, you’ll get tired of writing articles for others. Content stays online for years: it’s a wise investment. You’ll start considering ways you can profit too.
So how do you turn content into money?
Simple ways include: the advertising model (you charge for advertising on your sites), and the affiliate marketing model (you promote others’ products on your sites for a slice of the profits.)
You can write articles for pleasure and profit. If you’re keen, you can develop your own business as a content producer. When you do that, your potential for profit is unlimited.
