Want to make more money from your writing? You can. Let’s look at five easy ways in which you can increase your income.
1. Increase Your Rates
This is the simplest way. You should increase your rates by 10% across the board at least once a year, just to keep pace with the cost of living and inflation.
However, you can increase your rates at other times too. For example, if you’re attracting the wrong types of clients, increase your rates.
2. Let Your Clients Know About All of Your Services
How many of your clients are aware of the many different services which you provide? I’ll bet few of them are. They may know that you write articles, but do they know that you also write Web content, newsletters and ebooks?
Make a list of all the services you provide, and then call your clients for a chat. Look at these phone calls as a simple way of touching base with your clients, and of updating them on your services.
You’ll find that if you make ten phone calls, you’ll get several new projects.
3. Follow Up With Clients
Following up with your current clients is the easiest way to make more money.
If you haven’t created a follow-up process, do it today.
4. Streamline Your Processes
If you save time, you can turn that time into money. An easy way to save time is to use checklists.
Create checklists for everything you do, including for all the different types of writing you do. It’s easiest to create your checklists as templates on your computer. This means that you can simply copy a template checklist and use it over and over again.
5. Create a Marketing Schedule
Many writers market under protest, and some writers don’t do any marketing at all. This means that they’re constantly hunting for new writing jobs. They never consider that this is wasted time which they could be spending writing.
At the start of each month, create a marketing schedule. Enter daily tasks into your calendar.
So there you have five easy ways to make more money from your writing. Implement them today.
