Building Self-Publishing Income Streams: Your Ebooks Are Forever

Building Self-Publishing Income Streams: Your Ebooks Are Forever

Self-publishing is a huge opportunity for savvy writers. You can build your own publishing catalog, and although you may never release a huge bestseller, you can nevertheless make steady income.

Let’s look at three reasons for building self-publishing income streams.

1. You’re investing in your future.

Trading hours for dollars, no matter how profitable those hours may be, is a dead end. The words you write are paid for and done.

When you self-publish, on the other hand, you’re investing in your future. You may make just a few dollars initially, but if you write good books, in areas which are selling, your income will steadily rise. Your books will sell for years.

Once you get established, and develop a mailing list so that you can let your readers know when you have a new release, your new ebooks will sell from their first day.

2. If you write what sells, your income grows, month by month.

K. Matthew is a prolific author with several pen names who’s shared income data while publishing over 100 ebooks to Amazon and other self-publishing venues:

… here are my sales totals for the month of November:

Books sold: 5,245

Royalties earned: $8,443.82

You can join K. Matthew on her (his? I’ve no idea whether K. Matthew is male or female, and it hardly matters) journey on KBoards.

If you watch KBoards, you’ll find that authors who stick with it are rewarded. That said, it’s up to you to get better in all areas of writing and publishing. No fairy godmother will clobber you with a magic wand; you need to write, and focus on improving your writing skills. :-)

3. You’re independent.

If you hate your day job, this may be the best reason to self-publish. You can be independent. As long as you improve your writing skills, and keep writing good books. Readers will be grateful, and they’ll buy what you write.

If you’re wondering: “but how will my books stand out?” – here’s the answer. You keep writing.

Yes, writing and selling ebooks is more competitive than it was even 12 months ago. Hundreds of thousands of ebooks are published. However, it’s hard for readers to find authors they love. If you write books which win loyal readers, they will stay with you. Never worry about a crowded marketplace.

What’s holding you back from developing a publishing income stream (or many of them)? Chances are, it’s a lack of knowledge, which leads to a lack of confidence. You need advice and help to get your book out of your head, and onto the page.

You need a book coach.
