We’ve had so many queries about ebook sales and income this week, I though we’d better cover it. 🙂
Many Writers Are Making a Lot of Money
Yes, many writers are making literally buckets of cash. However, as you’d expect, others are making zilch.
Can YOU make money? Of course you can. Anything other writers are doing, you can too. There are more writers making money than you’d think.
For one thing, the “there’s no money in ebooks” whiners are vocal. There’s also the traditional publishing mob who are still pooh-poohing ebooks — you can ignore them.
So who is making $$$ and how much are they making?
Figures are hard to come by, because not all authors want to brag for obvious reasons.
Year of the Indie does give some figures, relying on writers who choose to report them.
This is a small sampling of writers, but it does give you some idea of what the top earners — and some low earners — are making.
Kindle Boards has a new page dedicated to top earning Kindle Board authors. (See image at the top of this post.)
On my Just Write a Book Blog, I talked about how to estimate how many copies each ebook is selling, according to Amazon’s author rankings.
If you look at the ranking, you’ll be able to guesstimate how much a book’s making — just look at the price, and the ranking. Amazon takes 30% of ebooks’ royalties, although it may take more, depending on certain conditions.
Here’s Amazon’s royalties page, and yes, it’s confusing.
Forget the Money, and Write
You want to sell books, and you want to sell a lot of them. However, you need to focus on writing. 🙂 The selling can and will take care of itself.
PayPal and Amex Cards — Confusing? Yes!
Over the past week, I’ve been getting messages from writers who want to buy a product, but it appears as if the PayPal checkout page only gives them the option of using an American Express card — you can see the Amex logo, but no logos for other cards.
You can use any of your favorite cards, even if the logo isn’t showing. Just enter your card details. PayPal accepts all popular cards.
If the card you want isn’t working, click the “Add Funding” link, and you can enter your favorite card’s details.
I called PayPal to check on this situation, because writers were contacting us. So be assured that you CAN use your favorite card.
That said, we’re looking into a new way of checking out, so that you have more choices.
Onward… happy writing. Write those ebooks. There’ve never, ever been as many opportunities for writers as there are today, so take advantage of them.
Offering, by Special Request — Write AND Sell Your Ebooks With Angela’s No-Fail Ebook Sales Formula
Can you profitably write and sell ebooks?
The self-publishing frenzy says that you can. However, you need to know what you’re doing, so that you’re as sure as you can be that your new ebook will SELL before you start writing it.
It took me five years of writing and selling information products before I stumbled over the formula I’ve been using ever since.
Now I’m sharing the formula with you. Once you start the right way, ensuring that you have readers who are ready and eager to BUY before you start writing, it’s easy to make sales.
