We’ve all got habits… you can make $500 a Day your new habit?
Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been working with a group of new writers. Their biggest challenge is SALES. Perhaps it’s your biggest challenge too. If so, I hope these tips will help.
A little while ago, we ran a series of “$500 a day” posts on the blog. Here’s a list of the “$500 a day” posts.
Do you think that making $500 a day from your writing is POSSIBLE for you? Whether you believe it is, or it isn’t, you’re right.
Making $500 a day from your writing is basically just a matter of confidence. Every sale you make builds that confidence.
You can’t think yourself into confidence — confidence develops when you take action, and keep taking action. Every action you take doesn’t need to be a success. Failure is only feedback, and even your failures will build your confidence if you keep taking action.
My father’s been gone for many years now, bless him. He hated that I wanted to write. He wanted me to become a lawyer, or failing that, at least a teacher. His rants that I would NEVER make any money as a writer fueled my determination. I was determined to sell my writing, just because he said I couldn’t. When my first magazine article was published in a major magazine, my biggest thrill was showing him the article.
As you might imagine, that first big magazine sale gave me a lot of confidence. As did the next sale, to Australian Cosmopolitan. That article was published in the Brazilian issue of Cosmo, and a couple of other countries too.
I owed making those sales to Dad — if he hadn’t told me I couldn’t, I doubt whether I would have been so fired up to prove that I COULD. Nor would I have developed a sales habit.
Please consider this: if you can make one sale, you can make a thousand, as long as you get into the habit.
Selling Your Writing Is Just a Habit
Your biggest challenge is always INERTIA. Few writers sell as much of their writing as they could, because they’ve never developed sales habits.
For example, Becky, one of my students, sold a few copies of an ebook, and then stopped. When she contacted me, months had passed since she made a sale. She wasn’t writing. She wasn’t selling. She failed to look on making sales as a HABIT she could develop.
I asked her how she’d sold the copies she’d sold. Well, she said, she wrote her ebook, blogged and sold.
Could she turn that process — write ebook/ blog/ sell into a habit?
She could. She did.
So can you.
When you do, sooner or later you’ll start making $500 a day — always much faster than you believe possible. Please remember this: SELLING YOUR WRITING IS A HABIT.
The Perfect Writing Business: PLR
For many writers, writing and selling PLR helps them to develop the SALES habit. PLR is an easy sale. Your buyers get cheap content. If you offer a “PLR customization” service, you can make a great deal of money customizing the PLR to your clients’ needs.
Want to see what professional PLR looks like?
It’s an excellent example of good PLR. Use that as a model, to create ebooks of your own.
Also, watch what happens once you buy that PLR. You’re encouraged to join Aurelius’s PLR site. Could you do something similar? Yes, you could.
All you need to do is write, and develop a SALES HABIT.
Fear of Selling
Oddly enough, when you’re just starting out (and even once you’ve sold many times), you can be fearful of selling.
This is a common fear. Everyone goes through it. Yes, even the biggest and most successful sales people in the world. Over time, I’ve come to see it as a form of performance anxiety. I read Mary Kay Ash’s autobiography, and she talked about always making one more sales call. When everyone else had left the office, she forced herself to make another call. Mary Kay developed the sales HABIT.
Here are a couple of great May Kay quotes:
* “For every failure, there’s an alternative course of action. You just have to find it. When you come to a roadblock, take a detour.”
* “Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around his or her neck that says, ‘Make me feel important.’ Not only will you succeed in sales, you will succeed in life.”
Creating and selling PLR is an easy way to get the sales habit.
As you may know, you can get the PLR to TWO of my ebooks.
Because so many writers asked, I’ve created an offering on PLR Genius for you too.
Get the Sales Habit: Goal — $500 a Day
If you get the sales habit, making $500 a day consistently is pretty much a given. You’re acting, you’re selling… you’re building a habit.
Yes, it’s just a habit. 🙂 Once you’re selling, look at your sales. What processes can you develop from them, which will grow into habits?
If you’ve never sold any of your writing, decide that you will SELL. Set a deadline, and then do it.
There are many, many more opportunities for writers than there have ever been. I wish I were starting out today… Remember: HABIT. 🙂
