Kindle publishing isn’t a way to get rich quick if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Remember, you’re writing a book. You need to learn how to do that, and chances are that you can’t learn in just one book.
In this article, The writer who made millions by self-publishing online | Books | The Guardian, Amanda Hocking has problems with the scenario:
“She also resents how her abrupt success has been interpreted as a sign that digital self-publishing is a new way to get rich quick. Sure, Hocking has got rich, quickly. But what about the nine years before she began posting her books when she wrote 17 novels and had every one rejected? “
Yes, Joe Konrath made $100,000 on Amazon in just three weeks… but he’s been writing for years.
Give yourself time. In the 1970s, when I decided that if I ever wanted to write a book and get published I’d better get on with it, I gave myself ten years. It took less than a year for a publisher to give me a contract, BUT I gave myself lots of time, without pressure, to get it done.
Give yourself time. Write. Enjoy what you’re doing.
Writers have more opportunities than they’ve ever had — writing for the Web gets you started on a writing career. But if you’re a new writer, please realize that there’s no free lunch.
Every word you write gets you closer to where you want to be: be prepared to write those words.
You Can Make MORE Money Writing Than You Can At Any Day Job
Tired of struggling? Here’s some inspiration for you… An ebook called “Fat Loss 4 Idiots” made 21 million dollars in 2009. Last year, Amanda Hocking wrote several short ebooks, and made 2 million dollars. Publishing has changed. You’re in charge, if you want to be.
Can you profitably write and sell ebooks? The self-publishing frenzy says that you can. However, you need to know what you’re doing, so that you’re as sure as you can be that your new ebook will SELL before you start writing it.
It took me five years of writing and selling information products before I stumbled over the formula I’ve been using ever since.
Now I’m sharing the formula with you. Once you start the right way, ensuring that you have readers who are ready and eager to BUY before you start writing, it’s easy to make sales.
