Blogging: Pick a Marketable Topic

I’ve had some questions about making money from blogging. Specifically, how to turn blogs which aren’t making money into money-makers.

Thousands of people around the world, in many different languages, are making money from their blogs, so it’s certainly possible … BUT you may not be able your current blog into a money machine.

If you want a money-maker, you need to plan for that, BEFORE you create the blog. You need to ensure that your topic is marketable. If it is, you can make money from it.

What, you may be wondering, is a “marketable” topic?

Here’s a rule of thumb.

Enter your topic into Google, and look at the ads on the right hand side, and on the top of the search results page.

Do you see any ads as in the image below?

If you do, that’s a marketable topic. (Probably. Some topics are more marketable that others.)

On the other hand, if you don’t see any ads at all, that topic (generally) isn’t marketable.

There’s more to the research process than that, but checking for ads in Google is very simple. It takes seconds, and can save you much frustration, and months of wasted time too.

Tip: blog for others, before you try to create your own blogs

One of the major benefits of getting blog jobs is that you’ll learn what marketable topics are. Therefore, if you want to become a six-figure blogger, blog for others who are making money. Look on it as getting paid to learn.
