If you enjoy writing articles, you can make money online by writing reviews as an affiliate of various products. Some writers have turned reviewing into a home business. Here’s the biggest secret: think about who uses the product you’re promoting, and write separate articles targeting each type of person.

There are many audiences for this kind of product. Rowing machines can be used by athletes, by people who want to lose weight, and by people who want to improve their health and/ or recover after an injury.

Within these various audiences, you can segment even further.

Considering athletes, you can target young athletes and older athletes, as well as athletes competing in various sports. In the weight loss audience, you can segment by age, by occupation (working moms and stay at home moms etc), and by the goals they want to achieve.

If you target each of these audiences individually you’ll sell more. It gives you more to write about, too.

Here’s another secret: be enthusiastic. Your feeling comes across in the words you write.

I’m not suggesting you pepper your reviews with exclamation points. At best this comes across as annoying, and at worst, you’ll turn readers off the product entirely.

Your enthusiasm needs to come from your use of the product, and your research into the product. When you include your own experiences, your readers are drawn into your reviews, because everyone loves a story.

Often, you may not have used a particular product, but nevertheless want to write about it. This happens frequently. Staying with our rowing machine example, it’s unlikely that you have experience with more than one brand of rowing machine.

If you haven’t used a product, you can write an article which references others’ experience with the product. You might say: “one user said the product disappointed her because the cover was flimsy and looked grimy after just three weeks of use.” When you reference others’ experiences, you can write honestly.

Writing articles can be very enjoyable, and very profitable to. If you write your reviews aimed at separate audiences, you’re likely to make many more sales — just remember to be enthusiastic.
