Back in April this year, I wrote this post Writers and journalists in 2009: will you thrive or die?:
“Thrive, or die? You have a choice, and it’s real.
Decide now, because as publications fold, writers are left out in the cold, clutching their laptops and wondering where to go.
The death warrants of traditional newspapers and magazines were issued at least a decade ago. Savvy writers saw it coming and made their own arrangements.”
Eight months onward, the situation has become ever more dire, as more publications cut staff, downsize and move online in the struggle to survive.
Your future as a writer is in your hands
These days, the only thing you can count on as a writer is YOU.
Here’s the good news. If you know yourself, and know that you have writing skills, you can relax. Writing skills will always be in demand. Traditional writing careers (magazines, newspapers, books) may be crippled, but publications and businesses will always need to communicate, and they pay writers.
It’s your choice. 2010 can be your best year ever as a writer, or the worst.
For writers who know how to write for the web, 2010 will be an amazing year. You can start building your success today.
Next week’s issue of the ezine: Ready, Fire, Aim!
In 2010, the more you write, the more money you will make. Unfortunately however, many writers struggle with the blank computer screen. If this sounds like you — if you struggle more than you should to produce a respectable word count each day — next week’s issue of Fab Freelance Writing Ezine will help.
Watch for it; it arrives in your Inbox late Monday, or Tuesday, depending on where you are in the world.
