Freelance writing success: what’s your strategy?

Are you a success as a freelance writer? If you’re not thrilled with your career, chances are that you haven’t defined what “success” means to you.

Define success, in your own words. What would a typical day be like for you, once you’re successful?

When you’ve done that, you need a strategy to create that success.

Seth Godin has a wonderful post on the hierarchy of success. Read it, it will make you think.

According to Seth, the hierarchy of success looks like this:

Attitude
Approach
Goals
Strategy
Tactics
Execution

I’ve spent too little time on attitude and approach — I tend to focus on the next four steps in the hierarchy: goals, strategy, tactics and execution.

What about you? Have you thought about your attitude and approach?

Please share your thoughts in the comments.

Freelance writers just don’t realize how much money there is to be made by writing for the Web: many writers use the Web as a research tool, they don’t see the Web as a mass of millions of markets. They don’t realize that Web sites are STARVED for good writers.
