Web Content Writing: Three Essential Tips You Must Know
Are you writing Web content? Whether you’re writing for yourself, or for others, there are fundamentals you need to be aware of — let’s look at three essential tips in this article.
1. Keywords Count: Your Content Must Be Found Online
One year ago, in July 2008, Google reported on its blog that they’d just hit a content milestone: Google had indexed one trillion Web pages. That was a year ago, and just from my own browsing experience, the Web has grown exponentially since then.
So how does your content get found? The answer of course, is that it’s indexed and found by the keywords you use. There’s more to it than that, but when you’re writing Web content, you need to be aware of keywords.
This doesn’t mean that you should go overboard, and stuff your content with every keyword you can think of. Nor does it mean you that you should use keywords unnaturally.
Just be aware of keywords, and track the results. Search is dynamic: keywords change, and since all keyword data is historical, you shouldn’t put too much faith in keyword tools. A keyword that’s “hot” today, may get few (or no) searches tomorrow. Therefore, think about the keywords you use, and why you’re using them.
2. Keep It Short, Keep It Simple: Get to the Point
Online, people what their information instantly, and they want just the information which will help them at the time.
Therefore, cut the fluff from your writing. Outline your writing, and know what points you want to make before you start. Then make those points, using links to send people to other information which can help them.
3. You Must Promote Your Content As Well As Write It
With over a trillion Web pages online, your content must be promoted so that people can find it. Keywords aren’t enough, and although content may be king, content which isn’t promoted simply disappears.
There are endless ways to promote your content. You’ll get best results from advertising, but there are many free promotional methods which work too.
