Will Twitter help your freelance writing career? (Listen to the Twitter for writers podcast.)
It can if you use it effectively.
However, as Exploring Social Media: Defining Twitter Demographics and Interests | The Blog Herald reports:
“Twitter is not the perfect social tool for every business or community building opportunity. If your audience uses it, you need to use it, but if your audience and customer base won’t be found glued to their computers waiting for the random comment to catch their attention and inspire their return comment. They’ve better things to do with their time and money.”
Twitter can help you if:
* You want other writers to alert you to writing opportunities when you’re low on work;
* You want to publicize something (a blog, a book, an info product);
* You want to build subscribers for a newsletter or ezine.
It’s not a magic marketing bullet, however. Please don’t waste endless hours tweeting away — know WHY you’re tweeting.
