Want more clients for your home-based freelance writing services business? There’s a simple solution: advertise for clients. You’ll soon have all the clients you can handle.
Let’s look at five forms of advertising. If you choose one new form of advertising each month, you’ll soon find what works best for you.
1. Free Online Classifieds
There are hundreds of these sites, of varying degrees of effectiveness. You can certainly use them as a way to advertise your writing services business.
Here are two tips for success: be genuine, and offer various ways for people to contact you. By “genuine”, I mean exactly that.
You should also have many tiny ads working for you; but on the biggest free classifieds site of all, all your ads must be different. This shouldn’t be too hard. Just post several ads a day, each for a different service you provide.
2. Paid Online Classifieds: Pay Per Click
Pay Per Click (PPC) can be a bonanza for you, or a complete disaster. Although the tiny classifieds look simple to write, there’s a trick to them, and it’s this: relevance. Take the time to read all the Help documents on the PPC sites you choose.
3. Forum Advertising
Many forums for webmasters, business owners, and Internet marketers offer forms of advertising. This might be in a special area of the forum, or they may provide banner ads in specific areas. Large forums have thousands of members, so forum advertising can be an excellent way to get your message out and build a client list fast.
4. Ezine Advertising
As with forum advertising, ezine advertising is a way to get your message out to thousands of people, and if you’re familiar with the ezine you choose, it can work for you.
5. Text Link Advertising
Text link advertising is becoming the ugly stepchild of the online advertising world, for various reasons. However, it works, and works well, over time. This is a more subtle form of advertising than the other forms we’ve discussed. Use it to increase your writer’s Web site’s ranking in the search engines, so that you can stop advertising for good, and still get a constant flow of clients.
