In 2009, article marketing will continue to be a hot source of writing jobs. How do I know? Because dollar for dollar, article marketing gives businesses the best ROI (return on investment) — articles stay online forever, and that’s true of no other form of advertising.
(By the way, I hope you’re using article marketing to promote your freelance writing business too, as well as writing articles for others.)
Chris Knight has just posted “2009 Article Marketing Predictions” on his blog.
Among his predictions, I found this gem 2009 Article Marketing Predictions:
“Freelance Writers Who Niche-Specialize Will Be Richly Rewarded:
Members who hired and were burned by cheap generalist ghostwriters will seek freelance writers who are specialized in knowledge around their niche instead of hiring a ‘jack or jill of all trades’ article writer. Articles will cost more, but the quality of reputation & trust factor will make up for it.”
When someone like Chris Knight (of Ezine Articles) makes a prediction like this, YOU should pay attention, especially to these words “hired and were burned by cheap generalist ghostwriters”.
I know from talking with people who hire writers and buy lots of articles that their biggest hassle is LOW QUALITY. Often, that poor quality stems from writers who have no clue about the topic they’re writing about. If the buyer has no clue either, you end up with a junk website — of which there are many. Not only has the buyer wasted his time and money, the writer suffers too.
Pay attention to QUALITY, because if you don’t…
Here’s how you suffer if you don’t:
* Your name becomes mud — all you have online is your name as a writer. Once you besmirch that name, you’re going to go out of business;
* You learn bad habits which are almost impossible to correct. Once you develop bad article writing habits (no research, illogical article structure) you’re ruined as a writer.
Writing tip
Are you on a Mac? Here’s a tip. MacSpeech Dictate can easily double your productivity. I’ve been using MacSpeech Dicate for around six months because I suffer from RSI; it’s easily my favorite Mac program, and it’s easy to use — all you do is talk. It comes with a great microphone and headset too.
