Freelance bonanza: Get started creating websites

If you can write, you can make as much money as you want to make online.

Here’s a big tip to help you to do that: invest in your own writing business in such a way that your money WORKS for you. Create your own sites and blogs.

When you write for others, you’re trading your time for money. When you spend that money, it’s gone for good.

When you write for yourself however, and create your own sites and blogs, you’re creating online properties which will bring you in passive income for many years to come — and since you own the sites, you can sell them if you wish.

Here’s a message I received last week from David, a Sell Your Writing Online NOW (SYWON) subscriber:

“Four months ago, after I completed Lesson 8 of SYWON I tossed up a simple WordPress blog with ten articles on it. I was creating other blogs, so I thought I’d come back to it. Long story short, the blog made $10 in its first month, $400 in the third month…

“I needed fast cash before Christmas, so I sold the blog for $4,600. I estimate I invested a total of TEN hours of work in the blog. Pure profit, after paying for the domain name, hosting and a couple of ads to sell the blog, was $5000. This means I made $500 an hour. Very nice — I’m looking to make 2009 an incredible year, now I KNOW how much money you can make online. I’ll be selling one blog a month this year. By the way, I quit my day job before Christmas to write full time.”

I’m very pleased for David. Think his story is unusual?

It’s not. There’s great money to be made online, when you invest in your writing business so that your writing skills work for you. Creating your own sites and blogs is just one way.
