Blogging income: what’s possible?

This week’s issue of Fab Freelance Writing Ezine was packed with blogging tips. Many thanks for the kind messages I received; I’m glad you enjoyed the issue — and I hope you put the info to work for you.

However, I did receive a couple of messages saying: “Is it REALLY possible to make $30,000 a month from blogging?”

The short answer is yes.

Here’s an example.

Blog Income Report – October 2008 | John Chow dot Com says:

“Total Blog Income for October 2008 – $34,350.93

While $34,350.93 is a nice income, it’s down by nearly $4,000 from last month. This is because I didn’t attend any shows last month so my appearance fee earnings went from $4,000 to zero. Here’s the income breakdown.”

There are many more.

Re blogging income, please keep one point in mind. While some people do share their blogging income stats, it’s unusual to do so. Why share what’s making you money and increase the competition in a particular niche? Sharing income only makes sense if you want more traffic to a blog by bragging about how well you’re doing.

So once you start making money from your blog about designer handbags or whatever, keep it to yourself.

Here’s what I wrote to a reader about dealing with disbelief about what’s possible online:

Tip: how to deal with your own disbelief that people are doing well online — accept that they are. Not only are they but also many anonymous people (in your own city, probably) are doing as well, and better. There’s a lot of money to be made online.

Get started! Yes, you’ll make mistakes, but it’s only from mistakes that you learn. I laid out a path for you in SYWON which WORKS — so take advantage of that.

2. Create a plan of action for yourself

3. Follow your plan.
