Freelance Writing Easy Money: New Series

I receive many questions from people considering the Sell Your Writing Online NOW (SYWON) training or copywriting training, and many of the questions can be boiled down to: “How difficult is it to make money writing?”

So, let’s consider it: is freelance writing easy money?

Yes, and no.

Let’s get the “no” out of the way first.

Writing for money is hard if:

* You’re filled with doubt. Yes, you’ll have doubts if you’ve yet to make your first sale. But some new writers (and some established writers too) imagine that a million-dollar income will drop on them from out of the clouds. They spend their time worrying, instead of WRITING;

* Possibly as a result of doubt, you’re lazy about writing. (I think it was Stephen King who said that although people want to live a writer’s lifestyle, they don’t actually want to sit in a chair for hours every day pounding a keyboard and getting a numb rear end);

* You fail to look on writing as a business. To make money writing, you need to set yourself up to make money writing, starting with setting an hourly income goal, investing in yourself, getting educated, and on, and on.

On the other hand, freelance writing is the easiest money you’ll ever make if:

* You realize that WORDS = CASH and are willing to do what it takes to make a six and seven figure income. What it takes is lots of writing, primarily. A numb rear end is part of the deal ;

* You set goals for yourself, and are willing to “fail” your way to success, realizing that each failure you have teaches you and is valuable;

* You realize that others are making $30,000 a month writing, and they’ve probably got a lot less talent for writing than you have.

I hope our new series helps you to look at yourself and your writing in a completely new way. We’re getting to the end of 2008. If this year hasn’t been all you hoped it would be, the series should get you set up to make 2009 your very best writing year ever.
