How fast can you build a Web writing income? You can do it very quickly, as long as you understand what to do, and more importantly, why you’re doing it.

If you follow the steps in this article, you’ll be surpassing your income from your day job within three weeks.

A tip: please follow the steps AFTER you’ve created your own Web site, or blog, and not before. You must post samples of your writing to your site if you want to be taken seriously as a Web writer.

1. Start With the Outsourcing Sites - Bid Often

There are many of these sites, and they’re not perfect. They present challenges to a new writer. However the benefit of these sites is that they show you hundreds of projects on which you can bid.

Here’s a secret: place lots of bids. However, each of these bids must be carefully thought through. DO NOT bid low. Genuine buyers are not impressed with ultra-low bids. They know that writers who bid low are over-extending themselves and the chance that they’ll complete a writing project satisfactorily is zero.

2. Get Active on Webmaster and Internet Marketing Forums

As a Web writer, you need to know how the Web works. The more you know, the better. As you gain experience, you’ll find that others who make their living on the Web are eager to work with you.

Read a couple of forums for a week or two, before you chime in, and before you offer your Web writing services. Watch how other writers offer theirs. You can make a great income on the forums; many writers already do.

3. Offer Your Writing Services to Web Sites Directly, With Proposals

Once you have a portfolio of Web writing, and testimonials of buyers who are happy with your services, you can become proactive, by writing proposals.

When you write proposals, you’re offering solutions for problems you’ve identified.

Your ability to progress to Step # 3 is a direct result of working with the first two steps. As you gain experience on the outsourcing sites, and on the Webmaster forums, creating proposals will come naturally to you, because you’ll have the ability to assess what a Web site needs.

The Web is build on words. It’s possible to make a great income Web writing. Follow the three steps.
