Want a way to get all the writing jobs you can handle? Here it is - brand yourself as a writer online. It’s vital to making the income you want and deserve.

I just did a Google search for “writer,” and found 253 million references. That’s a lot of Web sites and huge competition if you want to promote yourself as a writer.

Or is it?

Actually, it’s not. You can cut the competition down to zero, if you want to, and it’s much easier than you think.

You’re a Brand - Establish Brand YOU, and Inspire Trust

You need to establish yourself as a brand. That is, establish yourself as a well-known, expert writer. The online world contains a seething mass of scammers and fools (check your Inbox for the evidence). Anyone can say that he’s a “writer.” What buyers of your writing services want to known before they hand over their cash is that you are indeed, as advertised, an expert writer.

Establishing your brand means that you cut through the noise and clutter. People want to deal with people they know, or know of. Especially when it comes to writing, people have to trust you.

If you can inspire trust, you’ll get hired for writing jobs.

Think of the buyers who have to trust you:

Editors have to trust that you’ll deliver an article on time, and that it will cover the material you promised to cover in your query letter.

Businesses have to trust you with their confidential information: that you’ll guard their business secrets with your very life.

Individuals have to trust you with their (extremely) personal information if you’re writing bios or resumes for them.

As a writer, you deal with people’s information, and they have to know that you’re trustworthy.

How do you do that? You establish trust by establishing a reputation - a brand. It boils down to this: when you’re a brand, you have a lot to lose. Since you must maintain your reputation, buyers of your writing services know that by hiring a name-brand writer, you have more to lose than they do. Ergo - trust.

Establishing yourself as a brand name writer takes time and commitment, but it means that you’ve taken a huge step forward as a writer. It also means that you will get all the writing jobs you can handle, just because you’re a brand.
