Ebooks: Get Publicity, Make Sales

Selling information products like ebooks online makes a great business. Not only can you attract buyers from all over the world, but you can also make money right around the clock.

If you’re a newbie ebook creator and seller, realize that you need to promote your ebook consistently to turn any ebook into a bestseller. The more you promote, the more you will sell, and that promotion starts even before your ebook is written.

Your aim is to create buzz around your ebook, and you get that buzz by publicizing it.

Here are four easy ways to get publicity:

1. Blog your ebook

Blogs are my favorite way of promoting ebooks. As soon as I get an idea for an ebook – even before I write the outline – I buy a domain name and start a blog.

Although blogs get indexed by the search engines much more quickly than static Web sites, your blog builds its traffic slowly. As the traffic builds, you’re generating publicity and enticing buyers.

Here’s a great tip. If you’re not sure whether there’s a market for your ebook, or what information your buyers will buy, your blog will tell you. Ask your blog’s readers.

2. Use the many free online classified site for promotion

Once your ebook’s online and selling, use the many free online classifieds site to promote it.

3. Online press releases are the traffic gift which keeps on giving

Online press releases are a different animal from traditional press releases. With a traditional release, your aim is to get media attention. You hope journalists will read your release and write a story about it – or in the case of TV and radio, will interview you.

Online press releases are written for traffic and backlinks; their effect isn’t instant, it’s long term.

4. Write promotional articles – they bring you traffic and income for years

Article marketing works. Why? For the same reason online press releases work: they give you backlinks, and bring you traffic over time.

Now you have four ways to get publicity for your ebooks – use them, and you’ll be delighted at your sales.
