Writing and selling ebooks is not only profitable, it’s a lot of fun too. It’s led to an entire information-products industry.
This is because if you want information, you look for it online. This hunger for instant advice and guidance means that you can transform your knowledge into cash: just write an ebook.
Of course, if you’re not a writer, or if writing is hard for you, there are plenty of writers who are willing and able to create an ebook for you. They’ll research and write your ebook, and will present it to you in both Microsoft Word and PDF formats, ready for sale.
However, long before your ebook is ready, you need to start promoting it online. Marketing always has a lag time: people need to become familiar with the product, and decide whether it meets their needs.
So how do you promote your ebook so that it starts selling well as soon as it’s written?
Here are four simple, inexpensive methods to market ebooks:
1. Create a Web site and blog
When I get an idea for an ebook which will sell, the first thing I do is buy a domain name, and set up a Web site and blog. The sooner I get them online, the better, because it establishes an online presence, and starts developing the audience for the ebook.
2. Network with other bloggers and write guest posts
Next, I network with other site owners and bloggers in that niche, or in complementary niches, and offer to write guest posts. These guest posts build instant traffic to my new blog.
3. Write 10 articles for your ebook and post them to directories
While continuing to blog, I post articles to article directories – this builds even more traffic and excitement for the ebook, while it’s still being written.
4. Post on forums
Finally, I post on forums related to the ebook’s topic, with the Internet address of my blog in my signature line – again, it builds traffic, and an audience for the new ebook.
Does all this sound like a lot of work? It’s not. Once you’ve created the blog, just perform one task a day. This takes less than half an hour, and the benefits are enormous: and you’ll start selling your ebook as soon as you post it for sale.
