Why blogging is a vital tool for freelance writers

Why blog? Because blogging connects you with readers – and then to editors.

In the latest Writer’s Market newsletter, the editor suggests:

… if you enjoy running, why not start up a blog about your running experiences, including the ups and downs, the funny and bizarre. When you find a topic or story that excites your blog audience, maybe you have the makings of an article (or even a book). In this example, you want to turn your passion of running into your niche; that is, you want editors and readers alike to associate you with running, making you an expert on the topic.

I’ve been pushing blogging for freelance writers for years, however for writers who are focused on the bottom line (as they should be) the benefits of blogging can seem nebulous.

It’s only by blogging consistently and regularly that you see the benefits and opportunities that blogging gives you.

Blogging helps you to sell articles, and write and publicize books. It also helps you to make passive income, when you write ebooks, and sell PLR content.

IN essence, blogging helps you to make money writing long after you’ve written a blog post.

In Sell Your Writing Online NOW (SYWON), there are two modules which are devoted to blogging, however, blogging doesn’t operate in isolation. It’s a gateway to many opportunities, and to a great income.

Writing is always experiential. Blogging is a form of freelance writing which will help and support all your writing.

Blog. It’s a vital tool.
