Angela, I love your blogs and your amazing ability to create so much informative material. You truly are a guru. However, I have to disagree about article writing as being a lucrative way for a writer to run their business.
My experience is that most website owners are looking for the cheapest possible content. The Irreverent Freelancer posted on her blog just what the mentality is of many website owners who buy content.
Quality isn’t important; grammar isn’t important. If content is king then low price is surely his queen.
The web is growing at an alarming rate and the demand for content is growing just as fast. That might seem like a win for the writer, but only for the one who can crank out content on the cheap. Unfortunately, that’s not a good business practice.
I’ve actually crunched the numbers and it turns out that – in many instances – the writer would actually be earning a better hourly rate working at Wal-Mart.
Now, it may be that I’m just not finding the high-paying article markets, but it’s not for a lack of looking.

You shouldn’t be looking… clients should be approaching you. This is what I try to get through to Web writers. But it’s the old story, you don’t know what you don’t know.
