Blogging is a powerhouse way to get clients, whether you’re looking for copywriting clients, or are looking for magazine commissions or book contracts. To put it bluntly, blogging works.
As you may know, I’m a blogging evangelist, and browse other blogs frequently just to see what’s happening in the blogosphere. I’ve noticed something funny (and wonderful) about freelance writers’ blogs. They start out what a bang, and then tail off.
Since I’m nosy by nature, I’ve fired off emails to the slacker bloggers asking what’s happening. Why aren’t they posting to their blog?
The answer is ALWAYS: “too busy, no time to blog” and the blog “works too well.”
I know they’re not lying, simply because it happens to me too. I was blogging along happily on my copywriting site’s blog, and had to stop, because there’s a limit to the number of new clients I can handle.
So if you want all the writing gigs you can handle, blogging is a great way to get known as a writer.
If you want to blog to build your client list, “Writing Success with Blogs, by Angela Booth” will help.
