Is your freelance writing career just a J.O.B?

by angela.booth on February 3, 2007

Many (most) freelance writers don’t have a career, or a business. They have a job. And for most, that job pays less than a job at the golden arches.

This is sad, especially since millions of people who do not consider themselves WRITERS are making great money at… writing, on the Web.

Here are five tips on how to turn your freelance writing job into a bustling business that’s a goldmine.

1. Stop thinking like a writer. Start thinking like a marketer.

2. Stop thinking “writing” and start thinking about the people who buy your writing and why they buy it.

3. Spend half your writing time each day marketing your writing business.

4. Aim to be paid for everything you write.

5. Learn about the Web. Learn how to create a simple Web site that makes money – a blog. Then create several blogs and monetize them.
