Beginners’ write-for-money ideas

I’ve been browsing some online writers’ boards, and noticed that new writers often seem to get stuck writing for tiny amounts of money.

This isn’t necessary. There are many, many sites online which pay writers, but I’ve found that new writers aren’t good at digging for them.

Here are a couple of ideas to get you thinking:

* Look for the online versions of print publications. Many mags have an online version which takes material. Example: entrepreneur.com.

* Look for large commercial sites in your areas of expertise. “Commercial” just means the site is selling something – if it runs ads, it’s a commercial site. ALL commercial sites need content to boost their search engine rankings. Look for contact information on the About Us page, and SUGGEST (this is important) content that you could write for them.

Your suggestions are vital. If you approach a site by telling them you’re a freelance writer it means nothing, but if you offer to write articles or product descriptions, or collect news for them, that’s something they can envisage paying you for.
