In “The writing wealth in your subconscious mind: use it!” I discussed your Inner Librarian. Everything that has ever happened to you, including every thought and inspiration, is in your subconscious mind. Unfortunately, mostly we forget, and look for writing inspiration outside ourselves.
Your writing wealth is within YOU. You can tap into it in various ways. Some writers choose techniques like meditation or hypnosis, others develop extensive dream diaries.
Although these techniques can seem amorphous and woo-woo, they work. In 1985 I attended a writing workshop in New York with Lawrence Block, called Write For Your Life. Larry taught many different ways of tapping into the knowledge banks of the Inner Librarian. It was invaluable. At a distance of 21 years, I don’t remember that much about the day-long workshop, but I still use the techniques, like affirmations, and meditation, that Larry taught.
Develop your own techniques for getting in touch with your Inner Librarian, and build powerful motivation.
